Risk of aluminium migration in this brand of matcha tea

The Food Safety Authority has warned consumers to avoid using Matcha Tea from the Chinese  brand Shanwaishan “due to the possibility of aluminium migration into the product”.

In a statement on Saturday, the authority said the 80g tin of Matcha Tea with a best before date of 12/03/2028 should not be consumed as there is a risk that aluminium has leached from the packaging into the tea, potentially exceeding safe limits.

Consumers can either dispose of the product or return it to the store form where it was bought.
