CPD urges caution as Malta faces strong winds
Malta is facing unseasonally cold temperatures this Holy week
The public has been urged to exercise caution as Malta again faces strong winds on Tuesday.
The Civil Protection Malta advised that the wind will be strong over the Maltese Islands and a warning is valid until 10 pm and will be renewed accordingly.
It urged the public to avoid working at heights and avoid coastal areas due to the dangerous sea conditions and strong waves.
People should also secure loose outdoor objects and drive carefully in exposed areas.
Malta is facing unseasonally cold temperatures this Holy Week with temperatures on Tuesday dropping down to 10 degrees according the Met. office. Malta’s weather service reported force 6 south-westerly winds.
The adverse weather meant that the traditional Freedom Day Regatta was postponed on Tuesday.
Organisers had moved the event’s starting time forward to 10am in the hope of avoiding the brunt of rough weather, and several races were completed before strong winds made it impossible to continue the event.
Teams were seen struggling to even row their boats to the race starting line.
The regatta has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 12.
