The Prime Minister has insisted that Malta will not act as a military base but fulfil its obligations as part of the UN.

What are Malta’s obligations as part of the UN? Are they to warn the despot Muammar Gaddafi of imminent attacks to rid the Libyan people of this tyrant, as happened in the past?

What, I ask, would happen if Malta were to be attacked by some foreign power? If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that Lawrence Gonzi would get onto the phone to our UN partners and beg them to come to our aid.

Is it not about time that the Constitution is amended to suit the 21st century? Have the powers that be heard the saying you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
