Registered full-time employment increased by nearly four per cent in June when compared to the corresponding month last year.

Meanwhile, registered part-time employment as a primary job rose by 2.3 per cent, according to national data.

The National Statistics Office referred to administrative data provided by the Employment and Training Corporation which shows that over a period of one year, the labour supply (excluding part-timers) increased by 2.8 per cent, reaching 175,531.

This was mainly attributed to an increase in the full-time gainfully occupied population and a drop in register-ed unemployment.

On part-time employment in June, the NSO said it went up by 3.4 per cent when compared to the previous year. The sectors that contributed most to the increase were wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
