The most recent major event to be promoted by Mister Fish Club was held at the Westin Dragonara Resort on Sunday. The activity, aimed at promoting the sport on our shores, started as early as 6 a.m.

Response for this doubles competition was so overwhelming that the organisers had to limit the number of entries to 20 teams. Each outfit was made up of two anglers.

The seas surrounding the Westin Dragonara turned out to be the ideal venue for this event as the teams filled their keep-nets quite frequently during the competition.

At midday, the sounding of the horn signalled the end of the competition and marshals prepared to start weighing the catches.

In all, 37.3kgs of fish was in the nets. The fish which were still alive were released back into the sea to preserve the local marine life.

The overall winners were Cedric Tabone and Adrian Nelson with 2.77kgs. Joe Borg and Joe Abela were second (2.45kgs) and Louis Mifsud and John Borg third (2.35kgs). Abela landed the biggest catch - a fish weighing 450 grams.

The winners were awarded with trophies. They were also handed vouchers sponsored by The Westin Dragonara Resort courtesy of Renzo Correzzola.
