HSBC Malta is among the Round One winners in Global Finance’s World’s Best Internet Banks 2010 competition. According to Global Finance, the reputable financial magazine, the First Round winners include Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Banks and Best Consumer Internet Banks at the country level.
As a Group, HSBC won 22 country and 19 regional Global Finance awards. HSBC Malta won the country award for Best Consumer Internet Bank. In Europe, HSBC also won the Best Consumer Internet Bank Award in the Channel Islands and the Best Corporate / Institutional Internet Bank Award in Turkey.
This is the 11th year Global Finance has named the World’s Best Internet Banks. Winners were chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class judging panel. Global Finance editors were responsible for the final selection of winners in the First Round.
This is the second year HSBC Malta has been confirmed best-in-class for the quality of internet service it provides to customers. Winning banks were selected based on the following criteria: strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from internet initiatives, and website design and functionality.
“In less than a decade, the internet has transformed the way many consumers and most businesses bank,” said Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher of Global Finance. “The continuing improvements in internet offerings represented by this year’s entries show that more significant internet banking developments are still ahead of us.”
“This award continues to confirm HSBC’s efforts to provide the very best internet service for our customers. We are committed to provide our customers with more ‘speed and ease’ in the way they conduct their banking with us. Winning awards is a great honour but actually seeing the rapid growth in the use of our internet service by our customers is the best recognition that we could ever earn,” said Andrew Ripley, head of personal financial services of HSBC Malta.
