Senior School students at San Andrea School, L-Imselliet, l/o Mġarr, are enhancing their foreign language skills through a Comenius project entitled 'Europe goes to Theatre' that the school is co-ordinating and running in collaboration with partner schools in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria and Turkey.

Through the project, the students are being exposed to tales and literature from the various countries involved and will be staging a theatrical performance in a foreign language.

Teachers from the school's foreign languages and drama departments joined counterparts from the other partner schools at the second project meeting, which was recently held at the Scuola Medio Superiore Ugo De Carolis in Taranto, Italy.

During the meeting, the results of the evaluation carried out last June were discussed, literature stories and ideas for student activities were shared, and plans formulated for the project's second year.

The participants also visited Alberobello, a Unesco World Heritage town famous for its unique traditional conical constructions, known as trulli. Teachers also visited the Taranto Archeological National Museum, a treasure trove of artefacts from Magna Graecia, of which Taranto formed part.
