The iconic artist was set to perform at the Ta' Qali concert Area next month
The Lionel Richie concert scheduled for next month has been postponed to a new date in 2027, organisers have told ticket holders.
The famous singer and songwriter best known for his hits including All Night Long, Dancing on the Ceiling and Hello was set to perform at the Ta’ Qali Concert Area on August 18.
The performance was to be Richie's first performance in Malta.
On Monday, ticket holders received an email from organisers, who explained that "due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control" the Lionel Richie concert had been postponed to a new date in 2027, which would be announced on October 31st.
Ticketholders who wish to request a refund were directed to a Refund Request Form. For those who do not want to request a refund, their tickets will remain valid and be transferred to the rescheduled concert date once it is confirmed.
The announcement ticket holders received on Monday."We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience and understanding," the email read.
Last month, the 76-year-old had to abruptly end a concert in Minnesota after he fell ill and told the crowd he was feeling dizzy. The concert marked the first night of his nationwide tour with Earth, Wind and Fire.
Videos from the concert showed Richie sitting down onstage during his performance of Dancing on the Ceiling. According to reports, Richie was later sent to hospital. He later postponed two other shows.
