Man who died in St Paul’s Bay fall named as Lawrence Fardell
Tributes paid to 41-year-old from Vittoriosa described as ‘a true gentleman’
Lawrence Fardell has been named as the man who died on Monday after falling four storeys into a building shaft.
Fardell, from Vittoriosa, was 41 years old and worked at Fardell Home Maintenance. He fell at a St Paul’s Bay apartment on Monday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Forensic examinations have ruled out any foul play, sources told Times of Malta.
However, an inquiry led by Magistrate Joseph Mifsud and a parallel police investigation remain ongoing.
The San Lawrenz External Festivities Committee shared their condolences on social media, saying that Fardell was, “a young man loved by all, devoted to Saint Lawrence and also a supporter of the Feast through various donations and heartfelt voluntary work.”
They continued, “Lawrence’s loss will surely leave a great void in the hearts of the people of Vittoriosa and his friends.”
The vice mayor of Vittoriosa, Jason Portelli, shared his condolences on social media,
“Yesterday, Birgu lost one of its sons. Lawrence Fardell was a man of few words but with a big heart. I offer my condolences to his mother Cettina, his father Joe, and his loved ones,” Portelli wrote.
Many of those commenting online offered their condolences to Fardell’s family. Multiple people described him as “a true gentleman” while another described Fardell as a “good and quiet friend.”
