Man rescued, hospitalised after falling ill while swimming

A young man was hospitalised on Sunday after falling ill while swimming at St Peter's Pool in Delimara.
The man was taken to shore by people on the scene.
Rescuers from the Civil Protection Department arrived by launch and administered first aid. Since carrying the patient up the hill from the beach would have been difficult and stressful, he was carried on an inflatable stretcher to the launch and on to St Thomas Bay, where an ambulance was waiting.
No further details were available.
An inflatable stretcher was used to bring the man to shore.
