'Our home is not a toilet': Man caught defecating inside St Paul's Bay block

The incident is the latest case of residents reporting antisocial behaviour

A man has been caught on camera defecating inside a private residential block in St Paul's Bay on Sunday, in the latest case of residents reporting antisocial behaviour in their neighbourhood.

The footage, shared on a residents' group on Facebook, shows the man walking in the block's common area before pulling down his trousers and underwear and defecating near the lift.

He is then seen pressing the lift button and holding up his trousers as he enters.

A man was caught on CCTV footage defecating in a private residential block in St Paul's Bay.

The resident who posted the video and asked not to be named told Times of Malta the man was a stranger who had walked into the open residential block.

The resident said human faeces were found outside their door on Monday.

"We are furious. Our home is not a toilet," the resident said.

They said they had not contacted the police because they felt officers would not be able to act on the accident. The video was posted in the hope someone would recognise the man and highlight what residents were experiencing.

It is unclear whether the man is a tourist or a resident of Malta.

The incident highlights the rise in antisocial behaviour different localities have experienced in recent years.

The latest incident follows a similar case in Birżebbuġa just a month ago, when a resident criticised police for failure to act after a man was caught on CCTV defecating and urinating at the entrance of their apartment block.

In that case, residents said they chased and caught up with the man but were unable to get police assistance because they were told officers were too busy.

Last month, 12 naked men were also filmed sitting on a ledge and waving at passing traffic, in another incident that prompted concern about antisocial behaviour in residential areas.
