A 39-year-old motorcyclist was grievously injured on Sunday in a traffic accident in Żurrieq.

The police said the accident happened in Triq il-Qrendi at 11.30pm.

The victim, who lives in Rabat, was riding a Yamaha when he lost control.

He was given first aid by a medical team on site and was then transferred to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

This was the third accident involving a motorbike on Sunday.

Another two riders were injured in Qormi and Ħamrun earlier in the day.
