In their first attack Sliema went one up after a slip-up by the Rabat defence allowed Lukas Plaehn to advance unhindered before hitting past a hapless Ian Azzopardi.

Rabat's reaction was immediate though and Andrei Imbroll was forced to make a last-gasp clearance from a James Azzopardi effort. Josef Antonelli was then fouled inside the D and from the resultant penalty stroke, Charlot Antonelli made no mistake.

On 19 minutes, Antonelli set up his brother Josef who put Rabat ahead.

Imbroll again cleared off the line another effort by James Azzopardi and just before half-time, Azzopardi denied Steve Cachia an equaliser for Sliema with a well-timed sortie.

On resumption, both teams won a couple of short corners each and Rabat went further ahead from one of these corners. Dylan Lentini failed to clear a harmless ball only for Branko Radojevic to be on hand to punish Sliema.

With the score 3-1 in their favour, Rabat relaxed, giving more space to their opponents and for this they paid a heavy price. They conceded a penalty stroke on 60 minutes which was converted by Domingo Minan Guterrez.

Two minutes later, Silvano Vassallo went past three Rabat men, including the goalkeeper, to plant the ball home. Three-all.

Within three minutes Sliema went in front. Plaehn picked the ball inside the 22-metre area, forced his way down the left and beat Azzopardi from an acute angle.

In the last minute, Plaehn completed his hat-trick when he pounced on a rebound off the keepers' pads following a short corner action.

By virtue of this victory, White Hart are now occupying second place in the standings.

The first scoring chance fell to Marvin Vella, of Young Stars. His reverse hit just missed the target. On seven minutes, it had to be Robert Vassallo Agius, in White Hart's goal, to save a humdinger from Chris Attard.

After this initial onslaught by the Stars, White Hart settled down nicely, opening the scoring from a well-executed set-piece which saw David Agius deflect the ball in the roof of the net following a hard hit across goal by Luke Borg Costanzi.

White Hart kept up the pressure and it had to be goalkeeper Waylin Abdilla to prevent Paul Torpiano from adding another goal.

In the second half the two teams shared the exchanges with Abdilla saving from Borg Costanzi and on the other side, Anthony Roberts saved off the line with Vassallo Agius beaten.

In a counter-attack on 61 minutes, White Hart could have put their minds at rest but Robert Bianchi's rising push shot sailed over the bar with Abdilla out of position.
