The Home Affairs Minister has congratulated the police force for the substantial drug haul from Birkirkara yesterday.

Dr Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici praised the spirit of sacrifice shown by the officers involved which led them to five kilogrammes of cannabis resin and the arrest of six people involved in trafficking.

A record haul was made throughout last year, the minister said.

The total amounts of drugs found were: 16.005 kilogrammes cocaine; 780 millilitres liquid cocaine; 8.411 kilogrammes heroin; 23.418 kilogrammes cannabis resin; 458.310 kilogrammes cannabis grass; six cannabis plants; eight grammes cannabis seeds; 21,682 ecstasy pills; 3,150 of ecstasy look alike pills; one gramme of amphetamine and 490 milliliters of methadone.
