Six caught drink-driving on New Year's Eve
Police issued 22 charges following roadchecks
Six people have been caught drink driving following road police road checks on New Year's Eve.
In a statement, police said they issued 100 fines and 22 charges after stopping 700 vehicles on Wednesday night.
They said they held 30 road checks.
"Following a number of breathalyser tests, six were found to be positive," police said.
Between December 1 and 30, police issued 500 fines and four were found to be driving under the influence.
A total of 7,932 vehicles were stopped during 271 roadchecks, throughout the month associated with christmas office parties, family get togethers and general merry making.
