Ever thought of learning Chinese in one of the bustling cities of this great country? Now you can apply for a scholarship to learn the language or take up postgraduate studies from the comfort of your home through a newly launched e-government service.

The service, available on www.scholarships.gov.mt, will bring to wider attention such opportunities. Often, the scholarships go to waste because nobody applies but this new service, along with another two which have been revamped and made more user-friendly, was launched to encourage applications.

The other two services are applications for health insurance on www.ehealth.gov.mt and a site from which to download certificates such as birth, marriage and death.

There are around 70 online government services available and another seven will be launched in the next two weeks.

By the end of 2012, the government plans to offer all its services online.
