British team SW1 Capital made up for their upset in Malta last month by winning the Supersport Endurance race in the Turkish Grand Prix of the Sea yesterday.

Britons Daniel Cramphorn and Kim Collins underlined their bold intentions to challenge for the world title this year after crossing the line first ahead of world champions Angelo Tedeschi and Malta's Aaron Ciantar on board Ukraine entry Seagull Chaudron.

SW1 Capital took the chequered flag in Malta on May 10 but slumped to sixth place after being hit by a four-minute penalty for over-speeding. On Saturday, they had to withdraw from the Sprint race with mechanical problems.

But, yesterday, Cramphorn and Collins avoided such mishaps and covered the distance in one hour and 17.19 seconds, less than a minute faster than Seagull Chaudron who, however, retained the lead in the overall classification with 350 points after four rounds.

Iko Casa, of Shelley Jory and Audrienne Ciantar, won Saturday's Sprint in Istanbul but yesterday they were handed a one-minute penalty and lost third place to Baia Attolini, second in the championship on 334 points.

Iko Casa had to settle for fourth place with an adjusted time of 1:02.07.41. However, they were still declared the best team of the weekend in Supersport with 173 points to claim the Turkey GP of the Sea honours.

On Saturday, Seagull crossed the line first in the Sprint on the Bosphorus but had victory taken away from them after they got penalised for breaking speed limits. Victory went to Iko Casa who went down in history as the first all-female team to win a P1 championship race.

Tedeschi, however, was still happy at the victory of the fellow Chaudron hull.

Ironically, Iko Casa are currently racing with the same boat the Italian throttleman had when claiming the 2007 and 2008 world titles.

"I am satisfied with the results of Iko Casa. This is a reward for the hard work of Audrienne and Shelley," Tedeschi said.

"They are a very competitive team and I will not be surprised if they are challenging for the championship at the end of the season."

Meanwhile, the unpredictability of motorsport was never more visible than in Istanbul as the OSG Racing Team looked to extend their lead in the Evolution championship.

After heading the field on the opening lap of Saturday's Sprint race, the belt driving the superchargers snapped to force a premature end. Despite the setback, the OSG boat was back on the water yesterday but an engine blew during practice.

After much furious activity, a new engine was fitted but the boat would not fire-up and the opportunity to amass further points was lost. It was a major disappointment for pilots Hannes Bohinc and Giovanni Carpitella and in particular for the hard-working OSG mechanics.

Yesterday's 73 nautical mile Evolution race was won by Italy's Cigarette Smash Poker boat with Furnibo second and Metamarine third.

The next round of the championship will be held in San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy, over the weekend of July 3-5.
