Second survey this weekend shows narrowing gap between Labour and the PN

MaltaToday survey shows an 8,000 vote gap. Marmarà survey showed 25,000 difference

The gap between the Labour Party and the Nationalist Party has been narrowed to 8,394 with Labour in the lead, according to the latest survey by MaltaToday issued on Sunday. The survey was made just after Alex Borg became leader of the PN.

The newspaper said the the PL scored 48.8%, the PN 45.9% and third parties collectively garnered 5.4%.

Another poll, issued on Saturday by Vince Marmarà, showed Labour with a more comfortable lead of 25,000 votes with the PL projected to secure 51.7% and the PN with 43.2% if a general election were held tomorrow. That poll, too, was taken soon after Borg was elected PN leader.

In the last general election, in 2022 the PL won a majority of 55%.

MaltaToday reported that according to its survey Prime Minister Robert Abela enjoys a 13-point lead over Borg on the trust barometer. Conversely Marmarà had found a gap of 8% between the two leaders, in Abela's favour. The gap in a previous Marmarà survey in June was 15%.

In June MaltaToday had reported that the PL was leading the PN by 39,000 votes, saying the party was in 'freefall'. PN leader Bernard Grech had resigned shortly after those results, leading to the election of Alex Borg in September.
