Three councillors elected to succeed new MPs

Co-options needed for another two councils

Three councillors were elected on Wednesday to succeed councillors who were elected MPs last month, but co-options will need to be held for another two councils.

The Electoral Commission said that following casual elections, Rita Borg will succeed Yana Borg Debono Grech in Birkirkara.

Emanuel Camilleri will succeed Mariah Meli in Gharghur and Danny Farrugia in Mosta instead of Anthony Agius Decilis.

No one was elected to succeed John Baptist Camilleri in Marsascala and Conrad Borg Manche’ in Gzira, both PN seats.

The only nomination for Camilleri's PN seat in Marsascala was Brian Decelis, an ADPD candidate.

In Gzira, Borg Manche’ was first elected as a Labour candidate and later elected as an independent. Two candidates for his seat also did not achieve the quota.
