US firm to acquire Hibernians FC

Club members unanimously approve deal that will see previous owner keep 10 per cent stake

An American sports company that also owns clubs in Italy and Brazil is taking a step into Maltese football, having secured a deal to acquire a holding stake in Hibernians FC.

The deal will see Hibernians turned into Sport Limited Liability Company, with previous owner Ranier Bezzina maintaining a 10 per cent stake and fans also owning 10 per cent.

Club members unanimously approved the deal at an AGM held at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
