Woman grievously injured after car veers off Rabat road into field

The accident took place at around 5.15am on Triq id-Dwejra in Binġemma

A woman was left with grievous injuries after losing control of the car she was driving, which ended up in a nearby field in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The accident took place at around 5.15am on Triq id-Dwejra, Binġemma, within the limits of Rabat. Photos of the crash show the car in a field below the road.

Initial investigations indicate that the 33-year-old Siġġiewi woman lost control of the vehicle, a Nissan Qashqai, for reasons yet to be established.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for further treatment, where her injuries were later certified as grievous.

Members of the Civil Protection Department attended the scene of the accident, in addition to emergency medical personnel.

Police investigations are ongoing.
