A 49-year-old man from Zejtun was granted bail today after having been accused in court of assaulting another man and violently resisting two police officers.

The incident is alleged to have taken place yesterday afternoon in Karmenu Grima Square.

Nazzareno Abela was accused of causing slight injuries and damaging a policeman's watch. He was also accused of swearing.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000.
