Malta’s High Commissioner to India, Theresa Cutajar, today presented her credentials to the President Pratibha Devisingh Patil at a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

She was accompanied by second secretary Marsim Cassar.

Following the presentation ceremony, High Commissioner Cutajar met President Devisingh Patil to whom she conveyed warm greetings from President George Abela, the government and the people of Malta.

On her part, President Patil referred to the long established and excellent relations between the two countries. She expressed her appreciation for Malta’s support of India’s during the recent election of India to serve as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

During the meeting, President Patil and High Commissioner Cutajar also discussed bilateral issues and areas of mutual interest, as well as global challenges that require cooperation at the multilateral level, including climate change, the need for mechanisms to predict natural disasters, terrorism, financial governance and international trade.

Ms Cutajar is a career diplomat from Gozo.
