A Greek X-Factor artist will be singing a song written by Gerard James Borg in the Greek Eurovision national selection.

With the catchy title It’s All Greek To Me!, finalist Antigoni will be trying her luck to win the ticket to Dusseldorf in the Greek selection to be held on March 2.

ERT, the Greek broadcaster, has chosen six songs and six performers for the national selection.

Mr Borg was commissioned by the producer of the song to write the lyrics to music by Apostolos Psychramis/ Dimitis S.

Besides writing four songs in this year’s Malta Eurovision contest, held last week, Mr Borg has also had a song selected in Iceland, and a song chosen in Spain out of 1,202 submitted entries from all over Europe.

In Iceland, Mr Borg almost went all the way to win the contest when his song – co-written with Hallgrimur Oskarsson and performed by Magni – placed second.

The winning entry – Aftur heim - garnered a vast amount of sympathy votes from the Icelandic public due to the fact that the artist who had to perform it originally died suddenly of a heart-attack at the age of 36, and his friends decided to perform the song as a tribute.

Mr Borg had written Ira Losco’s 7th Wonder, which placed second in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2002, as well as Morena’s Vodka.

Ironically, while Mr Borg is enjoying international success, the Union of Maltese Composers and Authors (UKAM) had threatened to boycott the local festival because it opposed the decision to allow foreign songwriters to take part in the contest.
