It was not exactly child's play, but the world's strongest men were competing against each other today to pull an Air Malta Airbus, which weighed 42 tonnes.
Thirty men are competing in a series of gruelling events for the prestigious PartyPoker.com World's Strongest Man award. The competition, which is watched by 85 million viewers in 70 countries, began at Valletta Waterfront last week and ends on Sunday.
The feats, which are designed to test the limits of human strength, power and endurance, included the Keg Toss on Tuesday, where athletes competed on who threw a full-sized beer keg highest into the air, and the Truck Pull last Saturday, which involved pulling a truck across 100 feet. A boat pull will take place in Wied iz-Zurrieq tomorrow at 2 p.m.
The events are open to the public.
