British actress Judy Cornwell, best known in Malta for playing Daisy in the famous British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, arrived in Malta this afternoon.
She will be visiting various localities in Malta and Gozo to meet schoolchildren and members of the public and sign her books.
She is here on the invitation of St Clare's College girls' secondary school.
In the sitcom she plays the sister of Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced bouquet), and is married to a colourful character named Onslow – played by Geoffrey Hughes.
Ms Cornwell is a formidable classical stage actress whose theatrical career began as a dancer and singer in pantomime, vaudeville, cabaret and musical revues. She has written a number of novels including Cow and Cow Parsley (1985), Fishcakes at the Ritz (1989), The Seventh Sunrise (1994) and Fear and Favour (1996).
