Katy Perry at Isle of MTV: Start times, what to bring, getting home and more

Isle of MTV is preparing to welcome one of its biggest names yet as US pop star Katy Perry takes to the stage at the Granaries in Floriana on Wednesday night 

Joining Perry on the lineup are Dutch DJ Afrojack and Maltese singers Aidan, Jamie Cardona and Mychael Bartolo Chircop.

The annual event comes amid a heatwave so organisers are encouraging people to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated.

They have also warned that a ticket does not guarantee entry. Access will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis and will depend on venue capacity, which will be monitored throughout the event. Anyone who leaves the venue will not be allowed back in.

What time does the show start?

General admission gates 6, 7, 8 and 10 will open at 5pm, with DJ sets beginning at 5.30pm.

Mychael Bartolo Chircop will be the first live act at 6.40pm, followed by former Mużika Mużika winner Jamie Cardona.

Aidan, Malta's Eurovision entry, will perform at 7.30pm, followed by popstar Katy Perry at 8.30pm.

Afrojack will begin his set at 10.40pm. The event is expected to end by midnight.

Stay hydrated, but don't pack these items

Temperatures are expected to reach mid to high 30 degrees Celsius, and attendees are advised to use sunscreen and remain hydrated.

Each person may bring up to four unopened 500ml plastic bottles of water or soft drinks into the venue. Don’t bring your reusable metal or plastic bottles; they will be confiscated at the entrance.

Food, drink and toilet facilities will be available. Some stalls will accept cash only, and there are no cash machines at the venue. Rucksacks and bags larger than A4 size are not allowed.

Other prohibited items include glass bottles, weapons, selfie sticks, illegal substances, crash helmets, fireworks, drones, umbrellas and buggies.

Entry rules for children and teenagers

Printed and digital tickets will be accepted.

Anyone aged under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 or over. One adult may accompany up to three children aged under 14.

The named ticketholder must be present with the group. If the named ticketholder is absent, the group will not be allowed into the venue.

The ticketholder and all guests aged 14 or over must present an identity card, passport or driving licence at the entrance.

Anyone aged between 14 and 16 who is attending without a parent or guardian must present a printed consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Those who do not present the form will be refused entry.

The name of the main ticketholder can be changed through the ShowsHappening dashboard before the event.

How do I get home? 

Malta Public Transport will operate additional late-night services after the concert, with buses beginning to leave from 11pm.

Extra services will run to Sliema, St Julian’s, Qawra, Buġibba, Mellieħa, Mosta, Rabat, Mtarfa, Żebbuġ, Marsascala, Marsaxlokk, Birżebbuġa, Xgħajra and the Three Cities.
