Lilu King granted bail for the third time

Court imposes several conditions on the Paceville entrepreneur and social media influencer, including curfew, again

Mohammed Ali Ahmed Elmushraty, better known as Lilu King, has been granted bail against a €40,000 deposit on Friday morning.

Bail was granted for the third time in criminal proceedings where Elmushraty is accused of causing grievous injuries to another man.

Elmushraty, 32, a Libyan national, is a Paceville entrepreneur and social media 'influencer' who loves flaunting his wealth on social media.

The victim testified in court in November where he recounted how he had been slammed to the ground four or five times during an “unprovoked” attack.

Elmushraty denies the charges.

The defence filed another application after the Attorney General had successfully challenged a prievous bail decision in May when the Criminal Court revoked Elmushraty’s bail and ordered his arrest.

Elmushraty had been granted bail on May 16 against a €40,000 deposit and a €200,000 personal guarantee.

In a decree on Friday, the court, presided over by magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo, granted Elmushraty bail after taking into consideration the man’s criminal record and the stage at which the proceedings had arrived.

It also imposed several conditions including appearing before the court every time he is ordered to do so, to not leave the islands or abscond, to not approach prosecution witnesses, among others.

He was also asked to sign the bail book twice daily at St Julian’s Police Station and reside in Żebbuġ.

A curfew was also imposed.

A protection order was issued in favour of the alleged victim banning Elmushraty from speaking to him, whether directly or through others.

Elmushraty was granted bail against a €40,000 deposit, €200,000 personal guarantee.

In addition, the court also ordered him to find a guarantor for an additional €40,000 to be granted bail.

Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo presided.

Police inspector Eman Hayman prosecuted.

Lawyers Franco Debono, Marion Camilleri and José Herrera appeared for Elmushraty.
