PN postpones General Council after PM says parliament to convene on Saturday
General Council was planned for Saturday, but will now meet on June 24
The PN General Council has been shifted by four days to June 24, after the prime minister announced that parliament will convene on Saturday.
The PN's General Council was scheduled to meet on the same Saturday.
Robert Abela made the announcement on Sunday when he spoke during a One News interview.
This means the 15th legislature since independence will kick off three weeks after the general election that saw PL re-elected to power.
The PN is meanwhile expected to launch the process of appointing or confirming its party leader at the General Council's meeting.
The procedure is in line with the party’s statute following the general election.
The PN Executive Committee, which met last week, approved the process which must take place to confirm the current party leader or appoint a new one.
On Monday, the PN said that since parliament will convene this Saturday, its General Council will now meet on June 24 at 6.30pm.
