Sea at Wilġa Street, St Julian's 'fit for swimming' again

Area closed twice in the space of a few weeks due to contaminated water

The sea at Wilġa Street in St Julian's is once again “fit for swimming” the Environmental Health Directorate announced on Thursday.

The bathing area had been closed twice in the space of a few weeks due to contaminated water.

Last week the health authorities had said that the contamination “put swimmers’ health at risk” but the source of the leak had been identified.

On July 14 another warning had been issued in that area after an outflow of foul water had contaminated the sea.

That warning was lifted a few days later.
