Lilu King's Instagram account posts rap video: 'Locked up.. I don't give a f*ck'

Caption of the video claims some of the audio was recorded from inside prison

An Instagram account belonging to Lilu King, who is currently in prison, has posted a rap music video with the lyrics: “locked up and I still don’t give f*ck”.

A caption accompanying the video claims that some of the audio was recorded from inside Corradino Correctional Facility.

Lilu King, whose real name is Mohammed Elmushraty, has been in custody for six months after his bail was revoked.

He is facing a plethora of charges, including causing grievous bodily harm, money laundering, participation in organised crime, and drug trafficking. He denies all charges.

The video, with swear words removed by Times of Malta, was posted on January 12.

The video, posted on January 12 has the all caps caption: "LOOKED UP PART 1 MADE IN THE JAILLISTEN 👂🏾RECORDED FROM THE PHONE OF THE PRESENT ⛓️" (sic)

Contacted for comment, Elmushraty’s lawyer, Jose Herrera, said his client claims the song is an old recording and was not recorded while in prison.

“My client was not aware that any video was posted,” he said, adding that a third party has access to Elmushraty’s social media accounts.

A prison spokesperson said inmates do not have access to mobile phones and regular spot checks are made.

The spokesperson added that inmates have access to a fixed telephone line and the prison cannot control whether the person on the other end is recording.

The correctional services spokesperson also said that the concerned inmate has been in and out of prison on consecutive court orders.

The video shows clips and pictures of Elmushraty pouring champagne on his watch, posing with large stacks of €50 notes, holding a shotgun, and walking out of court smiling.

It also features a clip published by Times of Malta of Elmushraty arguing with police during a boxing match.

An AI-generated picture of Elmushraty behind bars smoking shisha and flanked by a guard, also features repeatedly in the video.

The Libyan national, who has refugee status in Malta, is currently in Corradino prison, in preventive custody over the grievous bodily harm charge.

The song, apparently rapped by Elmushraty, compares himself to several figures, including notorious Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar and ex-Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

Lyrics include, “I’m behind bars, I don’t give a f*ck like I’m Escobar,” and “my struggle like Gaddafi, hustle every single day.” The song also refers to the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, who was imprisoned for 27 years.

The song, which has garnered over 1,000 likes, includes several references to jail time, including, “in the jail I got more rich, I didn’t die trying” and “Why they put me in the jail.... I figured it out I’m ballin' in the cell.”

Elmushraty has a strong social media presence with some 27,000 people following his Instagram account which was set up in 2017.
