Air Malta in airplane deal with Bargain Holidays

Air Malta is expecting to expand its operations to the UK after concluding a deal with Malta Bargain Holidays, the national airline said yesterday.

Under the brand name British Jet, Malta Bargain Holidays has since 2004 leased and operated a McDonnell Douglas MD90 aircraft that was owned and flown by Hello of Basel, Switzerland.

As the lease was about to expire, the holiday company entered into talks with Air Malta. The two companies have reached an agreement that will see the airline becoming Malta Bargain Holidays' new aircraft transport provider. This deal was yesterday described as a win-win agreement by the two sides, who added that it will also benefit the tourism industry and the economy.

The agreement is expected to increase Air Malta's operations to London Gatwick and other regional airports in the UK.

Air Malta will be announcing new scheduled frequencies to the UK in the coming weeks, after slot approvals from the respective airports.

The airline also expects that the new operations, coupled with its schedule and charter network from the UK, will be positively received by Malta Bargain Holidays' customers.
