The final day of trading in the January window was a quiet one on the local scene with Hibernians and Mqabba the only Premier League clubs involved in transfer negotiations.
The Paolites, who are currently struggling to make it to the Championship Pool, have strengthened their squad with the acquisition of Cameroon midfielder Abada Narcisse Fish.
The 26-year-old was on the books of Albania's Flamurtari and will now complete the season in the Maltese Premier League after signing a deal with Hibs for the rest of the season.
Fish, who arrived in Malta on Wednesday, was due to attend his first training session with his new team-mates yesterday.
Meanwhile, Nigerian midfielder Edafe Uzeh is set to stay at the Paola club until, at least, the end of the season after his bid to secure a transfer with Czech side Sparta Prague apparently hit a snag.
A Hibs official said that Uzeh left a good impression with the Sparta technical staff during a short trial in Spain where the Czech team is currently on a mid-season training camp.
However, with the transfer window closing yesterday, the transfer could not be completed due to time constraints.
Yesterday, bottom-placed Mqabba signed midfielder Morgan Onourah and flank player Elliott Navarro until next May.
Striker Jean-Paul Muscat, who struggled to command a regular place in Joey Falzon's team, was loaned out to Division One club Tarxien.
