Of the nine trotting races on yesterday's card at the Marsa racetrack - all on the rather long 2,640m distance, five were from the Bronze Division. The rest were from the Premier, Gold, Silver and Copper Divisions.
Current champion driver Noel Baldacchino underlined his re-putation with three wins yesterday.
A close duel in the Premier race between Salvu Vella's Kamis De L'Eveche and First ended with the former just crossing the finish line first. Third horse in was Red River.
Kiton De Bouere, controlled by Baldacchino, registered a three-length win in the Gold race thanks to a strong dash along the final straight. Special Attention entered second while Euro Sunset claimed third place.
Idaho, directed by Melvin Farrugia, cruised to a most convincing 10-length victory in the Silver race. The winner began to increase its pace a lap from the end. Golf Oul Dada and Hermes D'Haufor were second and third respectively.
The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 3 p.m. The programme on Easter Sunday includes the final of the prestigious It-Tazza l-Kbira.
