Italian film actress and television host Sandra Mondaini died today, aged 79.

Ms Mondaini was the widow of Raimondo Vianello, who died a few months ago. Together, they hosted several variety shows on Italian television. She appeared in more than 30 films.

She was in hospital for the past 10 days.
