Maltese capuchin friar, Fr Philip Cutajar, was recently awarded Cuba’s Premio Solidaridad for his work in helping Cubans affected by Aids.

The Cuban authorities acknowledged Fr Cutajar for his dedication to the sick and to AIDS patients in particular. The latter nominated the Maltese priest to express their gratitude.

Fr Cutajar, who leads the Diocesan Health Commission in Santa Clara, dedicated the award to those who helped him in his charitable work, to the Catholic Church in Cuba, to the Franciscan Capuchin Order and to his Maltese and Gozitan benefactors who help him with their generous donations, enabling him to carry on with helping those in need.
