I refer to two letters on L-Istrina that appeared on January 11.

May I point out that the annual accounts of the Malta Community Chest Fund to March 31, 2012 (audited by independent firm KPMG) and the 2011 annual accounts of L-Istrina (audited by independent firm PricewaterhouseCoopers) were presented at a press conference in October 2012 and are permanently displayed on the MCCF website.

The accounts of the MCCF are also published in newspapers.

To remove any misapprehensions, may I point out that, in the financial year ending March 31, 2012, out of a total income of €2.99 million, an amount of €1.189 million was given as assistance to individuals and NGOs and €1.073 million were granted for medical treatment, special equipment and assistance to persons receiving medical treatment abroad.

Unused balances are rolled over to cover any contingen-cies that might arise during the year and also to fund other philanthropic initiatives.
