2012 medal: South Korea’s Park Jong-woo will receive his bronze medal from the 2012 Olympics despite triggering a diplomatic row in a match against Japan, an Olympic source said. The midfielder had held up a sign referring to a territorial dispute between South Korea and Japan while celebrating a 2-0 win over their fierce rivals in August. “The athlete will be given his medal,” said the source. “The IOC also issued a warning to the player.”

Lambert: Rickie Lambert wants to stay at Southampton for the rest of his career. The 30-year-old is the highest English scorer in the Premier League this season, leading to reported interest from others. However, the Liverpudlian has quashed such talk. “My family are happy here and I am very happy,” Lambert said. “It has been a special three-and-a-half years and I would love to finish my career at Southampton.”

Gorkss: Wolves have signed experienced defender Kaspars Gorkss from Reading on an initial 93-day emergency loan. Gorkss becomes Dean Saunders’s first signing since he was appointed manager at Molineux a month ago and the deal is with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

Villa: Barcelona striker David Villa has left hospital after undergoing treatment on kidney stones. The 31-year-old, who was admitted to hospital on Monday, will return to training tomorrow but it is not yet known if he will be able to feature in Saturday’s match with Granada.
