A 14-year-old boy from Somalia was given a one-year jail term suspended for two years after he pleaded guilty to having tried to use a forged French passport to leave the island this morning.
Magistrate Carol Peralta asked the young man if he had any ambitions in life and he said he wanted to work in IT.
His social worker told the magistrate he was a good boy and this was the first time he had been in trouble.
