The Nationalist Party will be moving its Independence Day activities to make way for national celebrations.
In a tweet this morning, party leader Simon Busuttil said “50 years of Independence must unite us as a country: PNmalta will move party events to make way for national celebrations on September 21”.
Reacting, a spokesman for the government said it had been the government which made an offer to the PN to find a way forward for Independence celebrations so that both the PN and national festivities could mark the 50th anniversary.
Agreement was reached between the government and the PN last week and until yesterday both sides were finalising the last technical details of the events.
“The government will give space to the opposition to hold their traditional celebrations without hindering national festivities,” the spokesman said.
