The Department of Information may commission a new official photo of President George Abela after the public's negative reaction to the first photo.

The DOI published its photo (right) on Tuesday but it drew a negative reaction, not least from timesofmalta.com readers (see below).

"The Department is now reconsidering this choice and is actively exploring other possibilities," the DOI said in a statement.

Distribution of the photo in Government departments was meant to start on Monday but that has been cancelled.
