Emmanuel Azzopardi, 57 of Hamrun, has been accused in court of attempting to seriously injure Carmen Micallef in an incident between rival political party supporters on Sunday.

Ms  Micallef was hit with a full plastic bottle below one eye after an argument. She was also spat at.

Mr Azzopardi pleaded not guilty and was granted  bail against a deposit of €300 and a personal guarantee of €10,000.
