Former president and prime minister Eddie Fenech Adami underwent a surgical procedure related to a heart condition, Times of Malta is informed. 

The intervention on the 82-year-old had been planned, his son and MP Beppe Fenech Adami said. 

"He is OK and is now recovering in a ward. He's expected to be discharged in a few days," Beppe Fenech Adami said.

Dr Fenech Adami who has a history of heart problems, was admitted to hospital last August after suffering a slight heart attack while on a boat trip with his family.
