The Italian Cultural Institute recently hosted Għaqda Poeti Maltin (The Maltese Poets Association) for an evening of poetry readings, mainly poetry in Italian or by Italian poets.
In a speech, association secretary Charles Magro, who compered the evening, outlined the scope of such literary evenings as a means of promoting the arts.
This was followed by readings by various poets in attendance, with intervals of song by Miriam Camilleri, who also read out two of her poems.
