Fire-fighters are battling a blaze believed to have been started by vandals at the former Holiday Inn in Sliema.
The blaze is on the top floor of the abandoned building, which once formed part of the hotel.
A number of young people are being questioned by the police.
In July, Times of Malta reported how the building was attracting teenage trespassers who were throwing furniture from the balconies.
Meanwhile, a neighbour sent the picture below showing 'tons' of wood in the courtyard of the former hotel. The reader wondered what would happen if a fire broke out there.
