The dead body of a man was found in the sea off Gozo on Wednesday afternoon, the police said.

The discovery was made at 5pm off Wied il-Mielaħ, Għarb on Gozo's North east coast. The unidentified body, in an advanced state of decomposition, was recovered by a patrol boat and taken to Mġarr.

A magisterial inquiry is underway.
