The Fondazzjoni Belt Victoria is issuing an original etching by Italian artist Rosalia Ferreri in a limited edition of 99 numbered copies, of the Gourgion Tower.
The tower, built by nobleman Giovanni Gourgion and inaugurated by Grand Master Adrien de Wignacourt in 1690, stood at Xewkija till June 1943 when it was dismantled by American troops stationed there during World War II to construct a temporary airstrip to be used in the invasion of Sicily. Today, only some photos and some architectural details of this tower remain. More information on the tower can be obtained from Joseph Calleja and Frans Zammit Haber's The Gourgion Tower (Midsea Publications, 1997).

Ferreri uses a wide range of media: from oils to water-colours, from tempra to graphic art. However, she excels in etching, a form of art which she has already used to depict Maltese landscapes.
