Playmobil Malta, the producer of Playmobil toys, kept its factory in Hal Far closed for a couple of hours this morning as a consequence of industrial action last week.

Workers who went to work as usual found the doors closed and a notice telling them the factory was not open.

The company and the GWU are in dispute over an issue related to ISO quality certification.

Workers who gathered outside the factory this morning said a meeting is expected to be held later today between CEO Helga Ellul and GWU General Secretary Tony Zarb.

The workers were let into the premises at about 8.40 a.m.

Playmobil employs 800 workers.
