Marsa fire smoke plume seen from space

The smoke plume from the Marsa fire which destroyed a stock of large PVC sewer pipes on Tuesday was visible from space, as this Nasa photo shows.
The central Mediterranean is currently cloudless as a high-pressure system creates a heat dome over the area.
The Civil Protection Department said it deployed 10 fire-fighting vehicles and 20 fire-fighters who used 150,000 litres of water to extinguish the blaze.
