A Labour Party delegation led by Leo Brincat, main spokesman on foreign affairs, is in Tripoli at the invitation of the Libyan General People's Congress for talks on strengthening relations between the two sides.

Before leaving, Mr Brincat said the visit was taking place at a time when Libya was speeding up its process of economic reform. Libya, Mr Brincat said, was being given deserved recognition by the international community for decisions taken in recent months in favour of disarmament and peace in the region.

Mr Brincat is accompanied by Labour MEP Joseph Muscat and MLP international secretary Joe Mifsud.
